Fear of Exams? Read this!
Hey guys, what's up? I hope you're all well! I think it has
been a long time since I haven't posted a blog, so here it is! Exam! What kind
of feeling do you get when you think of this word? I am sure that each one of
us will get a different feeling or emotion while thinking about the exam! Let's
explore more about exams!
We
start our schooling and while doing the schooling we get to know a new word
which is called a test or exam. A very new word which simply is used to check
the knowledge which we have gained in the meanwhile time. We feel happy and we
get excited that we are going to have a test and we will score very well. On
exam day, we write very well and our scorecard also comes very well but do you
think we have the same scores throughout our life? I don't think we have the
same score, I used to get a different percentage every year. Have you ever
think why is it?
Talking
about the journey, in our primary school days our score is almost in the same
range but as we move further and reach senior secondary classes, we might get a
change, and not everyone will be able to see the change. The change may be
positive or negative. If there is an increment then it is very good to see
development but in many cases, the change is usually decrementing and hence the
graph might be going down. The decrement might be a problem and if it is a
problem then there will be solutions too. Let's get further!
Our
exams always depend upon the confidence we have in that particular subject. It
simply means that the more confidence the more marks we can score but here I
have mentioned more confidence and not over-confidence so don't get confused
between them. Let's imagine you have an exam tomorrow on the subject
"Social media", what do you think how much will you score? I think
everyone would be a topper then, jokes aside, you get an idea of confidence is
very important and not just confidence, you should also have knowledge because
without the knowledge of social media, what will you write but talking about
nowadays everyone has all the information regarding social media so it would
not be that difficult. So we get to know that confidence and knowledge play an
important role in scoring well and talking about over-confidence then having over-confidence in your life may take you down as your mindset changes a lot when the confidence changes into over-confidence so always avoid having over-confidence.
Why is
there a fear of exams? Personally, if I talk about myself then I get fear when
my preparation is not very well and I am not confident about that particular
subject. And also after giving the exam we get another fear which is our
scores. How many marks will I get? Will it decrease or increase my overall
score? And many more. See these are very common questions and each one of us
has already been through this time or is going through this time. So what to
do? Let’s read below!
Usually,
people come and ask how you study. Or how to prepare for exams? There are a few
things that I would want to discuss with you: Once you get into new classes
always try to utilize your whole syllabus as everything is connected from
previous classes. Don’t take it as a burden then you will never learn, always
try to connect it with real life. Study every day and one of the things my
teachers used to tell me is if you have learned something then go back home
revise it after two days revise it, then after a week revise it, and then after
one month and it will be stored into your mind for a long period. Time
management plays an important role in everyone's life but especially in a
student's life because you have multiple subjects to study and sometimes work
to do too so managing time very well can help you best. While preparing for exams
always try to revise and study what you have already studied and avoid studying
new topics, if you think you have enough time then you may go for the new
topics but I would suggest you to study old topics or the topics that you have
already studied as it will make you perfect in that subject. Another thing my
teacher taught me is always use your brain in a single work, especially while
studying, nowadays we used to study and if the phone beeps we get into our
phone and forget about our studies, this is not done. If we are studying then
utilize our whole mind into studying that subject. Sometimes we ask people how
much should we study and we get multiple answers like 5 hours a day or 6 hours
a day, but one answer I want to share with you which is: quantity of time
doesn't matter what matter is the quality of time that you've studied properly
and utilized properly.
One
more question that we often hear these days: how to start studying? There is a
lack of confidence. So for this type of question, I would like to tell you that
once you feel bored while studying and you don't want to study, just take a few
minutes, take a notebook, and start writing about dreams and aims in your life.
And how will you achieve them and what can you do in life or how will you survive
without learning or studying? If you can positively answer them then you’re
going good but if you're not able to answer them then there is a problem there
you should build a mindset of studying for a better future because if you are
the only one to change your mindset and no one will be going to do it for you.
In the end, I would want to tell
you that: never leave a topic just because it is looking hard because if you
leave a topic now when you get into higher studies that topic may become a
burden on you and also have confidence in yourself because if you have done
well in exams then you will get a high score. Also, don’t get afraid if someone
studies for more hours than you, if you study well for one to two hours without
any disturbance then it would be enough for you. Also, there is a time when
there comes a hard topic and we are not able to study more then I would request
you to take a break not a big break but a small break of a few minutes, and
relax and then return to study. One more thing, when we are going in higher studies then the topics we study are getting deeper so to understand them properly we have to do a lot of time management because the topics are often time taking so manage accordingly!
Always believe in yourself, have confidence, and be positive after giving the exam because if you have done well in the exam then the result will also be the best, let's end this blog on a good note. If you have more suggestions or anything to share then you are welcome in the comment section below and also don't forget to comment with your feedback. Thanks for reading!
