Fear

Hey, people, today in this blog let us talk about fear. Almost everyone has a fear of something; it can be of anything like swimming, climbing mountains, etc. Let us talk about fear in a deeper meaning…
What do you understand by the term “FEAR”? Let us comment down below and share the meaning of fear in our lives. For me, fear is something, which prevents me to do something; actually, I would not want to do something again like the fear of accident when in speed, that will lead to deceleration or applying brakes and as one thing becoming so common is “CHALAAN”, now people are being afraid of it and they are obeying all the rules and regulations. After listening to this type of example, can you notice something? Not all types of fears are bad, some will also lead to good effect! Good effects like not increasing speed, and obeying the rules.
Each of us has our way of thinking fear, some people think of a dark room to talk about fear, some people think of insects like cockroaches or lizards. This tells that there can be varieties of meanings and definitions of fear. What Google has to say about fear is; It is an unpleasant feeling triggered by the perception of danger, real or imagined.  Also, people say that it is a signal of danger, which tells us not to cross our limits, and which is true. Fear and anxiety are becoming very common, just because people are not able to overcome fear and that fear leads to depressions and overthinking.

What are some effects of fear? Whenever we are going through fear; our breathing rate increases, our heartbeat at a faster rate and sometimes our hands and legs start shaking. Moreover, these all are enough to define tension, fear or anxiety! Fear affects many of our organs of the body; I will tell you how!

Fear affects our thinking: once the fear pathways are ramped up, the brain reacts in predictable ways. The brain reacts immediately to signals from the amygdala, instead of more rational processing. When in this overactive state—sometimes called “the amygdala hijack” – the brain perceives events as negative and remembers them that way. The brain stores all the details surrounding the danger-the sights, sounds, odors, time of day, weather and so forth. These memories tend to very durable, although they may also be fragmented. The sights, sound and other contextual details of a fearful event may bring back the memory, or they may cause us to feel afraid without consciously knowing why. Because these cues were associated with previous danger, the brain may see them as a predictor of threat. Reacting to cues was associated with previous danger as a predictor of threat, often happens with post-traumatic stress disorder (PSTD). For example, a soldier who experienced a bombing on a foggy day might find himself panicking when the weather turns foggy- without knowing why.
When we are living under constant threat or fear then it will have serious consequences, let us read how!

Fear affects physical health: Fear weakens our immune system and can cause cardiovascular damage, gastrointestinal problems such as ulcers and decreased fertility. It can lead to accelerating aging and even premature death.
Fear affects memory: Fear can impair the formation of long-term memories and cause damage to certain parts of the brain, such as the hippocampus. This can make it even more difficult to regulate fear and can leave a person anxious most of the time. To someone in chronic fear, the world looks scary and their memories confirm that.
Fear affects brain processing and reactivity: Fear can interrupt processes in our brain that allows us to regulate emotions, read non-verbal cues and other information presented to us, reflect before acting, and act ethically. This affects our thinking and decision-making in negative ways, leaving us susceptible to intense emotions and impulsive reactions. All of these effects can leave us unable to act appropriately.
Fear affects our mental health: other consequences of long-term fear include fatigue, clinical depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder.
After reading this much data, you would get an idea of how a primitive emotion "FEAR" affects our physical and mental health. Do not get worried or do not be afraid of fear after reading this data because some people take tension after reading such data. Now you would all be thinking how to deal with one of the powerful short words "FEAR”. For that, let us continue reading!

Avoid avoidance: The only way to deal with fear is to face it and do not let it be avoided or ignored. Avoiding it prevents us from moving forward to our future- it will make us more anxious day by day. All you need to do is sit quietly, observe the present moment, and forget about the past and the future. If fear arises, recognize it. Watch it rise to you, notice how does your body feels it but do not try to change it or get rid of it.
Develop a healthy sense of personal control: This talks about personal control, how much control do you have on your body and mind. The stressful people focus more on their energy on those events that they have influence over, rather than situations beyond their control.
Promote positivity: Fear causes us to notice and remember negative events, which reinforces our sense that the world is a scary place. We can change that by noticing what is positive-the joy we feel when we see someone we love, the beauty of nature, the humor in a situation, the pleasure of a sunny day. We should practice more positivity than negativity; it will help us to function effectively in difficult times.
Find meaning: Whenever we are in fear or anxiety, we forget all about the facts and we just go with our mind and the negativity and in this way the negative mind wins and to prevent it, we should find meanings. The meanings of our illogical thinking and unknown behavior.
Healing through meaning: When you are done with looking at the meanings and facts then you should heal your selves by applying the meaning in your lives and changing it into positivity.
Get support: Whenever you feel afraid or full of anxiety, which you cannot deal with, then share your feelings with your elders like your teachers, parents and I think you will get some support from them that will help you.
Go out for a nature walk: in today's world the number of forests and trees is decreasing day by day, but you will get parks nearby, hence go for a short walk between the trees and nature, it will give you relaxation and you will find peace.

At last, I would want you to apply these steps in your life if fear or anxiety arises and you are not able to handle it. I hope these steps will help you to reduce your fear, no matters what type of fear it is. Always remember nothing is permanent in your life, fight with your fears and they will leave you with the sign of positivity in your life! Never think that you cannot overcome the fear because it seems too big, just think that your brain has build memories of the fear and it repeats every time you think of fear. Hence, one of the ways is to change your thinking towards the past, not every time you will face the same past! Just remember every opportunity is the new opportunity!
I hope this blog benefits you in your life, keep sharing this blog until it reaches the person who needs this information. Keep sharing and keep helping others!

  1. Great insights on one of our most primitive and common emotions. Yes, like every other emotions, fear has its own pros and cons, so much so that, it can be considered as a necessary evil. The absence of fear tends to make us complacent while too much of it leads to anxiety, a common phenomena these days. We need to find the sweet spot between too less and too much.
Good to see so much thought and research done on this as the world is increasingly becoming aware of its mental health. Keep writing...
