Technology: Boon or Bane
Hey, people, I want to start the blog with a question
"what is technology to you?" I will tell you what I feel about
technology, so for me, technology is a group of techniques, a skill used to
make new products to make human life easy. I have said "EASY" because
when new products are made, they are made for the benefits of human beings but
have you ever thought that if the benefits transform into the loss of humans. In
this blog, I will talk about the advantages and disadvantages of technology to
humans.
Let us
first count the items that we use in a day: pen, notebook, books, television,
computer, and the most important which is a Smartphone. From television to
computer, computer to tablets, tablets to Smartphone, cars to buses, buses to
metro, almost everything is a technology and it is for our benefits. A pen lets
you write, and it can be saved for many years, the paper is the medium on which
you write. A book lets you gain knowledge from experienced people; a television
lets you entertain yourself for some time. A computer lets you access online
websites and to give you external knowledge and finally, a smartphone lets you
chat and talk with your loved ones and people far from you. Also, you all got a
fair idea of what all these do to our normal lives, and how important they are
to humans. However, these are only the positive points of the technology and as
we; all know that there are both positive points and negative points of any
object or thing.
Now let us talk about some of the
harms of technology. A computer is a very good device but if we use it for a
longer purpose, then it can harm our eyes. The WI-FI that we use to connect our
computer to the World Wide Web gives many radiations that can be harmful to our
human body. The television, which gives us lots of entertainment, can actually
change our lifestyles, I will tell you how, there are people who watch their
role models on the television, and they try to copy the style of their role
model that leads to change in their lives, and sometimes it can be harmful to
our brain. The people will always think the way their role models do and which
can make their lives fully dependent on television and then there can be some
accidents. If I talk about the people's favorite device which is a smartphone,
firstly it can make people get addicted to social media sites, it also harms
our eyes by the blue rays, and the games are so dangerous that the death of
children or teenagers is being very common. People's accounts are being hacked
and so on. Always remember that if you are getting many benefits from
technology then you are leaving the harms from that technology.
Technology has made changes to
humans and their lives, they have given both advantages and disadvantages to
humans, nature. If there is an advantage then always remember that there are
disadvantages too. The person who made human life easy is not wrong but the
person who is misusing the technology and blaming the person who invented, it
is wrong because firstly you are misusing it and secondly it is made to make
life easy. What I think is no one is wrong, in this world, people have invented
robots and the robots are gaining knowledge but the people are losing the
knowledge because the people are now more interested in their smartphones. My
class teacher taught me a lesson in Sanskrit that if we share our gained
knowledge then it increases but if we keep our knowledge secret in a locker
then it decreases and now the people are decreasing their gained knowledge and
this is sad for the future generations. If we are fully dependent on robots
then our body and brain are of no use and then we are a waste towards nature
and then robots will be a new generation for nature. Can you imagine human
beings being slaves of robots, and robots being the master, what a weird situation?
Isn’t it.
Moreover, at the ending of this blog, I just
wanted to say that technology is not just the small machines like mobiles but
also the tractors and harvesters used in farming, which is helpful for the
farmers, but not all the farmers can afford them. What about the space shuttles
that are giving information on black holes, mars, moon, etc. I would conclude
that technology has made human life easier but also remember that we should not
be fully dependent on technology, as there are harms too. There are weapons for
the wars between the countries, this tells that humans have made tools to kill
humans; it’s not that they are made to kill terrorists but these weapons are
killing humans only but now the security is also a reason to keep weapons.
Besides, we conclude that technology is a boon and a bane, it gives benefits to
people and some harm to the people. So do not just blindly trust technology, also
look at the harms of the technology!
It's been a long drawn debate by experts with a plethora of articles, blogs, columns comments available on the topic. It's good to see your perspective on the matter as is perceived by today's youth.
ReplyDeleteYes, technology is a boon as well as a bane today and hence it's the need of the hour to find that balance, the balance between socialising on the internet and socialising in the community, the balance between calculators and our own numeracy skills and so on. The trick is to find the middle path, the "madhyam marg" as propagated by Buddha, to do the right thing, to find happiness.
Great insights on the topic. Keep writing...
Thank you bhaiya!
