My Experience With Teach For India And The Fellows
I was in third class when I got my first TFI fellow. I got
lucky and it was a great experience with the teacher. She was caring, she
taught us very well, and we all enjoyed her classes, it was a great moment with
her and at last her two years were completed and we were left with just photos,
and the memories. Then again, in the fifth class, we got the second TFI fellow,
at first we were not comfortable with her, but as you know everything takes
time. Then we started enjoying ever class of her. She shared everything with us;
she was the one who bought a small library for us with lots of encyclopedias.
We also learn to make a running project of a volcano it was a lot of fun
studying with her. Then time went on, and it was time to say
good-bye and again we were left with just the memories. I also remembered some
of the days when she really cared for us.
Then again, I got lucky and in
sixth class, I got two TFI fellows. One fellow looked stylish and the other
looked classy. They really taught us very well and till now we were known as
their students. Almost all the time spent with them, we always learned
something new. We were called "THE SEEKERS". This was the first time
our groups were given names and we studied in groups to raise everyone at the
same level not just in studies but also in other activities. Those were the
days when we came to school regularly and we felt bored at our homes. We also
went to many stadiums and enjoyed our trips with them. We loved our studies and the amount of effort
they did for our class was as if I could not say it in just words. You both
rocked our class. Not just in the class but also in the playground and in our
communities too, you were with us, and as you time cannot stop, it was again
the time to say goodbye; we got a party and the last class with them. Again, we
were left with just photos and memories.
It was class eighth and we got new
fellows. He was the fellow who taught us to “never give up” and to never stop
trying. He was the teacher who gave a nickname to me as well. I cannot say how
caring he was, in just words. He taught us values and norms. We can share our
any and every feeling with him, he told us how to be solution oriented. We were
called "THE SUPERHEROES" and today, I am writing these blogs and the
reason is he only, he told me about my capabilities and you can see me here. Then
after one year, in the ninth class, a new fellow entered our class. We always
said that she was strict, and she doesn't care for us but after one year spent
with her we got to know the strictness was the reason we grew and we get to
know she cared a lot for our class. These both fellows had helped a lot not
just in studies but also in other activities.
In addition, in the tenth class,
one new fellow taught us English. She was the one teacher who always told us to
meditate, we do not like those big meditations but with time, we have to know
how important it was to keep calm and relaxed. We also went to St. Stephen's
college and had a lesson, in which we learned about the life of Helen Keller
and we spent a great time there. How can I forget about our science teacher in
the tenth class, he was the person who told us to calm down, whenever the class
starts shouting. He wants a well-disciplined class when he is teaching and with
time, we learned that. Moreover, with time, their farewell was also celebrated
and now we were left with the memories, pictures and their contact numbers. Not
just about studies but I participated in other activities too like I went for
the CARPEDIUM summer camp and I got new friends and I got to know more about
their fellows and their lives, it was an amazing experience there. I also went
for the MATHS MATHATHON, in which we played with mathematics and learned that
mathematics can also be fun, and at last we went for the student alumni
induction where we celebrated our last day and our farewell with our fellows,
it was a great time spent there. And that's how I completed my seven years studying in a TFI classroom.
I
am in the eleventh class, now there will not be any TFI fellow to guide, or
to show the right path. It will be a very new class for me, so I am just hoping
for the best. I had a great journey with Teach for India and their fellows.
They have really raised my level of studying and build so much confidence in me
that now I can actually teach the class. As I have enjoyed and learned so much
in TFI classes, I want more students to get this opportunity to study in TFI
classes and have a friendly environment around them. At last, I just want to
thanks Teach for India for giving me very caring teachers, who have helped me a
lot and who have always believed in every student of the class. I wanted to say ALL THE BEST to all the
teachers for their future lives, always be happy. I will never forget the time
spent with all of you…
This is truly a worthy tribute to the efforts of all the fellows. This helps us realise what we have achieved and what difference we have made.
